2007 Napa Gamay

Chock-a-block with cherry fruit flavors, our very first Napa Gamay is frisky, floral and a study in finesse. Medium to light in character, it’s a bit heavier than a traditional Beaujolais wine, but more delicate than a Zinfandel. It’s perfect for informal occasions, picnics and days at the beach, and is best served slightly chilled.

Battuello Vineyard Purebred Grapes

If wines were classified as purebreds, this one would have the right pedigree! We sourced the grapes for this wine from the Battuello Vineyard in the Napa Valley. The Battuello Family has grown Napa Gamay, also known as Valdiguié, since the early 1900s, providing fruit for award-winning Gamay wines made by some of the biggest names in the business — Peter and Robert Mondavi and Christian Brothers, to name a few.

The Orignal Napa Gamay Block

We were able to secure only three rows from the 2007 vintage. One row was from the original Napa Gamay block, which was planted between 1909 and 1920, and two were from small blocks that were established in 1971, when the Battuellos pulled out 30 acres of prune trees. The blend of grapes from the two sites gives the wine a unique personality and a stunning, aromatic flavor.

While we were lucky to harvest this small batch of exceptional fruit, we only have 84 cases available for sale! Hence, it will only be offered in our online store and at our tasting room in Healdsburg.
