It’s been a few years since we’ve made a Gamay, but the outstanding quality of the 2010 vintage had us so head-over-heels we just had to say “Yes!” when our friends at Battuello Vineyards over in St. Helena offered us some of their superb Gamay fruit.
As we coaxed this wine through its formative stages, we determined it was one sassy lady—pert, bold and a bit audacious. So we called it "Flirt." The nose is heady with berries, and brilliant cherry/strawberry flavors dance across the palate.
In Italian, doré means “golden.” When we saw the splendid, golden tones of this elegant lady develop as the wine matured, we knew exactly what her name would be. Quite simply, Doré is the “Belle of the Ball“—a wine reminiscent of a slow and intoxicating waltz.
This is a classy wine, worthy of its pedigree. Deep, dark purple hues give way to a bouquet that screams “Cabernet.” Rich flavors abound, dominated by black current, chocolate and bright cherries. The finish is long and smooth, like a satin robe
